What a good rewrite does
Keeps your meaning
A rewrite that sounds better but says something different has failed. Facts, numbers, names and commitments stay exactly as they were.
Changes one thing on purpose
“Make it better” is vague. Shorter, clearer, warmer or firmer are all real choices. Pick the one you need, and you get a better result than asking for “improved”.
Cuts hedging and filler
“Just”, “maybe”, “I think”, “in order to” and “the fact that” make text weaker and longer. Removing them is most of what “sounding more confident” means.
Prefers verbs over nouns
“The implementation of the system resulted in a reduction” turns into “The system reduced”. Nominalizations are the most common cause of stiff writing.
Sounds like you, not like AI
No “delve”, no “I hope this email finds you well”, no em-dash-heavy flourishes. A good rewrite reads like your best day, not a template.
